Description
When police chief, Brenda Harrison, signs up for training offered by a federal agency she suddenly goes from the beloved public official the Girl Scouts bake cookies for to “the stain on Maine.” Natural allies suddenly turn on one another as people in Hobbs take sides. The press is unrelenting in its pursuit of the story, which eventually makes the national news. The fallout has a devastating impact on Brenda and and her family.
The controversy draws Brenda and her wife, Cherie, closer to town doctor, Liz Stolz, and her wife, Episcopal rector, Lucy Bartlett. They disagree with Brenda’s decision but want to support her in meaningful ways, which could potentially expose a secret they are desperately trying to hide.
