I write both historical and contemporary fiction published under the imprint, Purple Hand Press. Two of the books in my historical series have won Golden Crown Literary Society and Rainbow Awards.

Hobbs Series

The Hobbs series got its start when I discovered a manuscript I’d written in the 1980s and decided to update the story to the near present. The story of how Liz Stolz, who now practices family medicine in a small town in Maine, is reunited with her college lover, Maggie Fitzgerald became High October. Most of the main characters in the Hobbs series are women of a certain age, who have already lived full, successful lives and come “from away” to make a fresh start.

Passing Rites Series

Occasions of Sin was published in the Fall of 2012. Lies of Omission followed in 2018 and Acts of Contrition in 2019. Both won Goldies and The Passing Rites series began when I asked the question, “How would I have behaved during the Nazi era?” Growing up, I had listened to my father’s stories about his life in Germany before and during the war Awards.The Imperative of Desire, published in 2021, explains Margarethe von Stahle’s upbringing in the Prussian nobility and the crucible of history in which she came of age.
