A proud New Yorker
I was born in Brooklyn but raised in one of New York City’s northern suburbs. I thought I wanted to be a doctor, but in college I got hooked on philosophy. After graduate school, I landed in the “accidental profession” of publishing and worked for academic and trade houses for over forty years.
How I got started writing
I’ve been scribbling stories for as long as I can remember. My parents encouraged my love of history. My father grew up in Germany and was an officer in the German army during World War II. I was fascinated by his stories and began researching the rise of the Third Reich. Occasions of Sin, the first volume in the Passing Rites series, was published 2012.
A happy accident
In 2019, I found an old manuscript lurking on my hard drive and rewrote it. It was published as High October, a second-chance romance with a twist. The Hobbs series, featuring a diverse cast of mostly middle-aged LGBT characters, now spans nine novels. I’m currently working on the next.
When the pandemic started, I founded a Facebook group Lesbian Fiction Campfire to share WLW stories during the lockdown. Now, it sponsors author readings, book giveaways, and other ways for authors to share their work with readers.
I live with my wife in Coastal Maine. My hometown is very much like Hobbs. When I’m not writing or walking on the beach, I can be found building custom furniture and listening to opera very loud in my workshop.
